2009 in review

Well as 2009 come to a close I found time over the last few days to sit down and look back at the year that was.
For us 2009 was the year that bought us our beautiful Baby girl Charlotte. It was a busy year with plenty of weddings to shoot as well as Baby/Children's/family shoots and even working with the Big man in Red as we shot Santa photos for Harvey Norman. On top of my weddings I have spent time working with and shooting for another local photographer, which has been a fantastic opportunity to learn and hone new skills.
I know that this time next year, when I look back at 2010, I plan to find major change and growth, in my life and in sharkey photography.

So to celebrate 2009 and welcome in 2010, I have put together a slide show of some of my favorite shots, moments, people and places from the year.
Sometimes these shows take a few minutes to load. So start the show, hit pause, and go grab a cuppa. Then sit down and enjoy the show.

Dianne & Martin

On Sunday I had the pleasure of shooting Dianne and Martin's beautiful wedding at Bonville International Golf Resort. Their wedding day was full of love, laughs and leaches.
Dianne had her hair and make-up done in Coffs before returning to the resort to slip on her dress and jewelery. She looked simply stunning as she prepared to go and meet with Martin.

Dianne and Martin opted to see each other before the ceremony, so we watched from afar as they saw each other for the first time on their big day.

We slipped a few photos in while the rain was light before we headed off to the ceremony.
The ceremony was wonderfully officiated by Wendy Haines and the personalised vows had us all in stitches.
'Remember Martin...... Handbags!'
It's official
The rain cleared off and we headed out for some photos.

Congratulations Di and Martin, we wish you all the happiness in the world.

Tamara & Greg

The big day had finally arrived for Tamara and Greg, and luckily there wasn't a cloud in the sky... Well at least we think there wasn't, but seriously, who can tell when your in the middle of a dust storm. Strong winds and a thick dust haze blanketed this special day.
Most Brides would go into complete bridezillic melt down! But, when we found Tamara, getting the last touch ups on her hair and make up, we found a calm and collected bride. It was clear that this was a love that cared not for a little dust and wind.
Tamara and her bridesmaids got ready in a beautiful farm house on the hill looking over Glennifer reserve where the ceremony was soon to begin.

Tamara looked beautiful
Tamara and Greg had Bellingen's lovely fairytale tours horse and carriage as transport on the day

I think the dust storm only added to the vintage/country feel to the day.

One of my favourites

Tamara and Greg, we wish you all the happiness in the world.
I hope you remember your wedding day every time you get a little dust in your eye.

Richelle and Gavin

Well we had been waiting forever for Saturday to roll around allowing us to finally shoot Richelle and Gavin's wedding day.
Shell and Gav tied the knot at the cute Raleigh Church nestled in behind Raleigh Winery. The ceremony was beautiful and included plenty of laughs and a few tears of happiness too.
After the ceremony we headed to some nearby derelict train tracks for a few shots before moving on to a local farm to enjoy some more rural surroundings. We made a couple of last pit stops at Shell and Gav's surprise accommodation and the Federal Hotel in Bello's main street.
When we arrived at Thora Hall for the reception we marvelled at how great it looked for what would surely become a reception to end all receptions.
Here are just a few of the shots from the day...
Richelle looked absolutely beautiful.
They DO
Time to slip on the comfy shoes!

The farm

such a quiet bunch.
The Federal Hotel turned on the charm.
Of course Shell and Gav's guest rocked it out in the Photobooth. Here are a few of the clean shots.

Thanks Shell and Gav. We really enjoyed being there on your special day!

Rebecca and Scott

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hanging out with the uber cool couple, Rebecca and Scott. We had a blast hanging out in Thora which is in the Bellingen Valley at the base of the mountains.
Rebecca got ready on her parents property, part of which would be the setting for their beautiful Ceremony. Here are a few details from the morning.

Rebecca had her hair done by Cherry from Hair Odyssey and make up was done flawlessly by Anthea of Anthea's nail, skin & beauty therapies. Once she slipped her dress on she looked absolutely beautiful.

Rebecca and Scott opted to have a "first look" for their big day. A first look is where the couple share some interment time together before the ceremony to soak in all the beauty that is their wedding day. Freeing any real nerves and letting them enjoy a shared experience. Here are a few shots of when Rebecca and Scott first saw each other in full wedding attire.
From my vantage point.

and this was my beautiful wife Jade's view

Rebecca and Scott picked one of the most beautiful ceremony backdrops I have ever come across. The ceremony was nice, and due to the first look Rebecca and Scott had some extra time to hangout with their guest before we headed up the mountain to Griffiths lookout for some more panoramic views.

We made it almost all the way to the top of the mountain before it happened. "What happened" you ask...
We drove right into the clouds. Literally we could only see fifty meters max in any direction. Fog completely blanketed the plateau. But I tell you what, heavy fog + hot couple = magic...
See for yourselves.

WOW!

The day ended with the reception held at the quaint Thora hall. Rebecca and Scott had us set up a photobooth which was an absolute blast. Here are a few of my favourites.

Thanks Bec and Scott, we had a great time shooting your special day. Enjoy your honeymoon, we will see you when you get back.
Please, if you like what you see, leave us your comments, we love hearing from you.
